Supported Living

People with learning disabilities, autism, and complex care needs can benefit from supported living. Supported living is an alternative to residential care that allows you to choose the right amount of assistance – when and how you need it – so you can live an enriching and fulfilling life. Our schemes are intended for people who have learning disabilities, autism, brain injuries, or complex care requirements. You have come to the right place if you're looking for supported living while maintaining your independence. We are committed to providing the best possible care and support. Supported living allows you to live independently while maintaining control over how and when you receive assistance. We can help you achieve your objectives, such as becoming an active member of your community. We offer flexible support, whether you need a few hours a week or more. We co-create individually tailored support plans based on your interests, priorities, and skills. Whatever your requirements are, Starlight Supported Living Team are here to assist you. You have control over the assistance you receive. From assistance with personal care needs and financial management to locating education, work, or leisure activities – you decide! Working with registered service providers The roles and responsibilities of the support provider and registered housing provider – the landlord – in each supported living service are outlined in a Service Level Agreement (SLA) that both parties agree to and sign. Each SLA is unique, with its own set of working arrangements, reporting procedures, and responsibilities. Starlight goal is to always work in partnership with the landlord in the best interests of those we support. Eligibility and Funding The level of assistance required by anyone is planned and agreed upon with them and, if applicable, their immediate family. A care manager or social worker will usually conduct an assessment before introducing them to a suitable care provider. Some people choose to receive a Personal Independence Payment or Direct Payment and then choose a provider on their own. This includes responsibility for all aspects of working conditions and employee well-being, on which the council can provide advice. If you choose Starlight as your support provider, you will be introduced to our support staff to ensure everyone gets along. The council, or in some cases the NHS, then pays the support provider directly and closely monitors the quality of service you receive. The benefits available to those living in supported living arrangements vary according to their level of need and ability. They may include the following: Personal Independence Payment or Disability Living Allowance Allowance for attendance (for those over 65) Allowance for work and support Some people also receive Housing Benefit to help them pay their rent, as well as benefits and grants to help with special home adaptations.
